Unlocking Wisdom Through the Lens of Transformative Learning

Wisdom Lens Studio: Where Learning and Design Converge

What is Transformative Learning and Applied Wisdom?

Sharing Applied Wisdom through Transmedia Storytelling. What is applied wisdom? What does applied wisdom look like in action? How to apply wisdom through transformative learning and leadership led by Wisdom. Every moment in life is a moment of learning.

By looking at life through the lens of wisdom, our transdisciplinary approach provides a fruitful perspective that goes beyond traditional education, creating a richer understanding of the world around us.

Transdisciplinarity: Teaching through the Disciplines
The Transdisciplinary Approach of learning through the list of disciplines leads to an immersive Transformative Learning experience.

Transformative Learning: This process focuses on personal growth and development through experiences that challenge existing beliefs and perspectives. It involves reflecting on one's experiences and transforming them into valuable lessons for personal and professional growth.

Holistic Education: Holistic education emphasizes the development of the whole person - mind, body, and spirit. It integrates academic learning with social, emotional, and physical development.

Holism: Holism is the belief that systems should be viewed as wholes, rather than as a collection of separate parts. It emphasizes the interconnectedness of all things and encourages a holistic approach to problem-solving and decision-making.

Experiential Learning: Experiential learning involves learning through direct experience and reflection. It emphasizes hands-on, immersive activities that engage learners and encourage them to apply their knowledge in real-world contexts.

Value for Educators and Students to their diverse fields of study as praxis:

  • Creates real-world relevance

  • Provides opportunity for creativity

  • Provides opportunity for reflection

  • Accelerates learning

  • Provide your students with the skills to make unique contributions as praxis.

  • Share the love of learning with your students as they explore their own unique academic journey.

In sharing insights on Transdisciplinary, Transformative Learning & Applied Wisdom, we uncover methods to integrate diverse knowledge for profound personal and communal growth.

This approach finds a natural application in Transformative Learning within Immersive Garden Spaces, where the principles of holistic learning and practical wisdom come alive, fostering deep, sensory-rich educational experiences in nature.

Transformative Learning in Immersive Garden Spaces

Garden Learning Spaces transcend the limitations of traditional educational settings. They are intentionally designed to go beyond mere physicality; they serve as co-created (nature-human) immersive spaces for holistic learning, leading toward self-actualization and social transformation.

These spaces are intentionally designed to stimulate the senses, spark curiosity, and inspire exploration, inviting deep connections with nature and fellow learners.

Through "learn by doing" experiences and interactive project-based activities, learners empower themselves to cultivate essential life skills, unleash their creativity and find meaningful connections.

Garden Spaces

Ecological Literacy: This means understanding how the natural world works and how humans interact with it. It involves knowing about ecosystems, plants, animals, and how they all depend on each other.

Ecological Psychology: This is about how our surroundings affect our thoughts, feelings, and behavior. It explores the connection between the environment and mental well-being.

Permaculture Design: Permaculture is a way of designing systems—like gardens or communities—that mimic natural ecosystems. It focuses on sustainability, using resources wisely, and creating harmony between people and the environment.

Ecological Village Design: This is about planning and creating communities that work in harmony with nature. It involves things like sustainable architecture, renewable energy, and community engagement to create eco-friendly living spaces.

Horticulture Arts & Sciences: This combines the art and science of gardening. It includes learning how to grow plants, design beautiful gardens, and understand the science behind plant growth and care.

Every Day is Camping: This suggests learning how to enjoy and appreciate the outdoors in everyday life, not just on once-a-year camping trips. It's about connecting with nature and having fun outdoors.

What Does This Mean?

Establishing a Culture of Transformative Learning and Applied Wisdom through Transdisciplinary Analysis and Design is at the core of our approach. We emphasize Transformative Learning, Holistic Education and the Foundation of Holism, incorporating Permaculture Design and Ecovillage Design principles. Additionally, we explore the intersection of Horticulture Arts & Science and The Flow in Sports.

This culture is shared through innovative mediums such as Transmedia Storytelling, digital products, and diverse lenses of perception, fostering a deeper understanding and engagement with the transformative learning journey.

Once you learn, integrate and implement this Transdisciplinary Approach, you will inspire and provide your existing or new academic classes and programs with elements of curiosity and wonder that your students are looking for. You have the opportunity to start your own garden learning space or integrate an existing garden space, on or off campus or visit a public garden space like a botanical garden. You can provide the essence for the love of learning.
